Good Words for a Friday in the Rain (7)

Recently, while on vacation, I read the ancient book of strategic wisdom called "The Art of War." If you have not read it, don't be deceived by the title.

These few Good Words, quoted here, reminds us that wrath can return no true joy. It is always superior to win over hearts with kindness and wisdom, than destroy.

Those you do battle with may be on your side. The wise person will illuminate that which makes you one.

Shine It Forward...

Thank you for that!

It shows that the war best won is the war in our hearts and minds....

Not in numbers or real estate........

John... it is NOT an easy read. But the funny thing is it kinda "steeps" like a cup of tea.

When I went back to the book to get thsi quote... as I read it became clearer.

Craig.... just the quote alone by SunTzu makes complete sense. Certainly sounds like a lot of wisdom. Thanks for sharing this.

Craig, I so appreciate these "Good Words for A Friday in the Rain" posts!  In regard to the subject of this post, I had checked out the book, "The Art of War" several years ago.  Some very deep & insightful material.  It was interesting to read in a business journal recently that there seems to be a transition occurring from Chinese philosophy in business to Indian.  You seem to have covered both in your Friday posts!

Craig - It's Friday!  I gave this book to my son for Christmas.  SunTsu articulated the importance of using power wisely. His words echo:  "Use not your troops unless there is something to be gained...No ruler should put troops into the field merely to gratify his own spleen...A kingdom that has once been destroyed can never come again into being; nor can the dead ever be brought back to life.  Hence the enlightened ruler is heedful and the good general full of caution.  This is the way to keep a country at peace and an army intact."  Timely for the the present day World at War.  Pray for our troops.

Craig - I am starting to mark the week by your words of wisdom series.  They put me in the right frame of mind for the chaos of the weekend.

Good thought to end this week here on AR's staging forums and the "battles" that raged within.

Let's strive to be the Victorious Warriors on the staging battlefront. Together we're quite a force to be reckoned with.

Yup...And...

Winners never pick battles. We wait for the battle to pick US :)

This post reminded me of a quote I once read...

"You can discover what your enemy fears most by observing the means he uses to frighten you" (Eric Hoffer)
